Stone Blade Entertainment has announced via Facebook that they will be releasing a game called Shards of Infinity in March 2018.
Creators, Gary Arant and Justin Gary have been working on Shards of Infinity for over a year. They are both most recognised for their work on Stone Blade Entertainment's other big hit, Ascension, and all its expansions. Ascension is now on its 13th box expansion.
Shards of Infinity is planned to be a spiritual successor to Ascension that is faster, more strategic, and more streamlined. This deck-building game tasks 2-4 players with collecting the Infinity Shards, which combine to form an ultimate weapon.
Like Ascension, players start with a deck, and draws new cards from a row of six cards in the center of the game. The winner is whomever can build their weapon from Infinity Shards and kill the other players.
Characters start with fifty health and zero Mastery. After accumulating Mastery, your cards become more powerful. Once you reach thirty Mastery, you can use the Ultimate Power of your Infinity Shard and immediately win the game. It also adds mercenaries, which contribute to the game diffferently to Allies and Champions.
There are already plans to arrange tournaments and organised games. Shards of Infinity will be releasing in March 2018, for a retail price of $19.99
